Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit reiterated on Wednesday that Egypt's role in defending Palestinian rights is clear.
Aboul-Gheit pointed out that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's attempts to launch accusations against Egypt are nothing but smoke bombs intended to cover up his desire to prolong the war for political and personal reasons.
The Secretary-General also stressed that the rejection of the presence of Israeli forces on the Philadelphia axis is a clear Egyptian position, supported by the Arab nations, and is based on the refusal to reimpose the occupation on the Gaza Strip and its people.
He emphasized that the Egyptian position has legal and political authority, stressing that Israel's recent positions, especially Netanyahu's lies, risk undermining Egypt's pivotal role in the region.
