Woman spends £300 transforming kitchen with DIY she learned on TikTok
A woman has spent just £302 transforming her kitchen - and saved £4.5k by doing the work herself.
Ugne Litvinaite, 29, bought her two-bedroom house in Peterborough, Cambs., almost three years ago.
But recently, she decided she wanted to modernize her kitchen, a room she hadn't touched since she moved in.
However, when shopping around at the likes of Wren Kitchens, Ugne realised it was going to cost her anywhere between £3k and £4.5k - a sum she couldn't afford.
Ugne watched several renovation videos on TikTok and decided to give it a go herself.
Ugne spent most of June working on her kitchen and spent a total of £302.
Ugne, a manager for an insurtech company, said: "It was definitely cheaper than what I expected."
"So far I have spent £302 on the renovation. "
"I still want to install vinyl flooring which will cost me around another £150."
"I'm super happy with the results."
The transformation has included the installation of a boiler cupboard and a wine rack, which cost £170.
Ugne primed and painted the cupboards and a wall for the total sum of £92.
She also added new cupboard handles for £22.
The tools used for sanding down the surfaces before priming and painting were borrowed from her dad, so she didn't have to buy any equipment.
The kitchen counters were then wrapped in vinyl, which was a total steal at £18 from B&Q.
Ugne was relatively inexperienced in the world of DIY renovations, but the savings are a good motivator.
She said: "I recently decorated me and my boyfriend's bedroom. "
"I tried out my skills at doing the panelling which was a lot easier than I thought!"
"Next up is the living room."
"I've build additional storage and will be repainting the walls and fitting new flooring."
"Again, something I haven't done before."
