Freak wind blows away street-side noodle stall in Thailand
A freak gust of wind blew away a street-side noodle stall as stormy weather battered Thailand.
CCTV footage shows the gusts suddenly pounding the area where the vendors were preparing food in their shop in Krabi, Thailand on August 29.
One of the owners rushed to park his motorcycle inside the store to shield it from the winds before starting to clear their kitchen.
However, the gusts became more powerful and toppled the metal structure over in one blow.
Noodle stall owner Pornjira Pakaranan, 42, said: ‘Our stall, which was separated from the main shop, was made from galvanized sheet roof with tables and cabinets. We were so shocked when the wind struck.'
The vendors were unhurt and cleaned up after the mess.
Their utensils, furniture, and ingredients were scattered on the roadside while the stall was damaged.
The Thai Meteorological Department forecasted on August 29 that the West Coast of Southern Thailand, including Krabi, would experience widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
