On September 5, 2024, @raymongdullana shared a video of a bright fireball observed in Gonzaga, Cagayan, Philippines, caused by a 1-meter asteroid, Asteroid RW1, burning up in the atmosphere. The European Space Agency (ESA) reported that the asteroid was "harmless" but created a notable fireball. This event marked the ninth time a small asteroid was discovered before entering Earth's atmosphere. The Catalina Sky Survey, funded by NASA, identified the asteroid on September 4, 2024.
