Shocking dashcam shows the moment a taxi driver accidentally hit a deer - sending it flying across the road.

Daniel Gunter, 62, was driving a couple to Stansted Airport through Brentwood, Essex last week (Sept 1) when a deer appeared out of nowhere.

The car's dashcam captured the moment Daniel slammed the breaks and bumped into the deer.

To everyone's relief, the deer immediately got up and scarpered off the other side of the road.

Daniel's car was left with a misaligned bumper and broken headlight - which cost him £300 to repair.

Daniel, a cab driver for Brentwood, Essex, said: "It was lucky that the deer didn't end up getting hurt."

"I was driving along at about 30 miles per hour and it just jumped out of the hedge, basically out of nowhere."

"You can hear the couple in the video asking what had happened because it made quite a bump."

"My car is meant to have a brake mechanism for when something pops up ahead of it, but the deer was too quick for it to work."

"Luckily I managed to touch the brakes, which meant the deer bounced off the front of the car instead of me dragging it down the road."
