Footage shows a biker being chased by police and sent sprawling after reportedly attempting to ram the patrol car out of the way with his scooter.

The video reveals the suspect riding along the road with the police car beside him, its lights flashing, in Sochi, Southern Russia, on Thursday, August 29.

He swerved into the police car and hit it with his scooter. The impact did not affect the vehicle but caused him to lose his balance and fall to the ground.

The clip then shows him sitting by the roadside after being detained by police, with his scooter being loaded onto a tow truck.

The city's Department of Internal Affairs said: 'A daring scooter rider was detained by traffic police officers in the Khostinsky district of Sochi.

'It all happened on the Matsesta viaduct.

'A 25-year-old resident of Novocherkassk ignored the police officers' demand to stop. And when the inspectors began pursuing him, he overturned his scooter onto the roadway.

'The visitor was detained and taken to the Khostinsky police department. The young man refused to undergo an examination.

'Four administrative reports were drawn up against the offender, and he was placed in a detention cell until the trial, which will occur tomorrow morning.

'His scooter was sent to the impound lot.'
