This is the air-raising moment a pilot makes a terrifying landing on a rocky riverbank in Russia just a few feet from tourists stretched out on their sunbeds.

Footage of the splash landing in Yakutia, Siberia, emerged on social media on September 5th. It shows the single-engine plane coming in fast and low.

As it bumps to the ground, the pilot misses astonished holidaymakers enjoying a day by the water.

Then, turning quickly, it throws up a shower of rocks and dust as it slows to a halt as the clip ends.

Local media reports that the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office is investigating the pilot of the Soviet-era Antonov An-2 plane.
It's uncertain why the aircraft made such a risky landing but the An-2s have a grim safety record.

Nearly 900 people have died in hundreds of crashes caused by engine failure and poor air stability.
