A neighbour removed a huge python slithering on the ceiling of a family's bathroom.

The family asked the other resident for help to remove the 8ft snake that entered through the gaps on the roof into the property in Nonthaburi province, Thailand on September 2.

Footage shows the man using a stick to pull the serpent overhead and catch it.

The animal fell onto the floor and the neighbour secured it before it was carried out of the house and released.

House owner Kanjana Promma said: ‘It had been raining heavily and our home is beside a canal. I went to the pier to ask my boyfriend for help so he called a neighbour to assist us.'

The python was released back into its habitat unharmed.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
