"I'm now in Qiaogang Town, Beihai City, south China's Guangxi. China is bracing for the arrival of Super Typhoon Yagi. Powerful gales and heavy rain from the 11th typhoon of the year drenched southern China on Friday, with schools suspended and sailing of ships halted."
Dianjian fishing port in Qiaogang Town is a national first-class fishing port where over 4,700 fishermen work and live.

"Since the meteorological authority issued a red alert for Typhoon Yagi, we immediately used the radio to notify fishermen to return to the port for shelter and instructed them to secure their boats. We boarded each vessel to ensure safety measures were in place and to evacuate the fishermen. By 6 p.m. on Thursday, 1,577 fishing boats had moored at the port, and 3,851 fishermen had safely come ashore."
Beihai City suspended work, classes, businesses, and transportation. Grid personnel worked tirelessly to ensure the power supply remained uninterrupted.

"China Southern Power Grid has activated its highest level of emergency response to ensure the power supply for core facilities. Guangxi Power Grid Co., Ltd. has mobilized over 3,000 employees, with 1,400 dispatched to areas such as Beihai, Yulin, Qinzhou, Fangchenggang, and Chongzuo, which are expected to be severely affected by the typhoon, to maintain power supply."
Typhoon Yagi slammed into China's southernmost province of Hainan Friday afternoon.
It made a second landfall Friday night in Guangdong Province, forcing nearly 1 million residents to relocate.
