Bisalpur dam gates opened after heavy rain in Rajasthan

Heavy rain battered many places in Rajasthan state of India. Two gates of the Bisalpur dam in Tonk district were opened on Friday following sufficient water inflow.

Water Resources Minister Suresh Rawat performed a ritualistic worship with officials before the gates were opened.

Bisalpur dam, the main source of drinking water called lifeline of Ajmer, Beawar, Tonk districts and the state capital Jaipur.

The water level of the dam is at 315.050 RL metre.

For the first time in 26 years, the gates of Bisalpur dam were opened in September month.

Earlier, the gates were opened 6 times in August when the dam was at full capacity.

Tonk district collector Saumya Jha, former Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini, Additional Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department Ajay Tyagi and thousands of villagers were present during opening of gates.
