A rehabilitation center head in Indonesia has been arrested on charges of domestic violence and drug possession. Sukendra Madra, 48, the chairman of Agam Solid, a drug rehabilitation institution in Agam, West Sumatra, was apprehended by police on August 3, 2024, after a tip-off from concerned neighbors.

The arrest came after reports of frequent domestic disputes and suspected drug use at Madra's residence. A police raid uncovered evidence of marijuana possession and use.

The arrest of a drug rehabilitation center head has shocked the community and raised questions about the effectiveness of drug rehabilitation programs in Indonesia.

AKP Syafri, head of the Bukittinggi Police Narcotics Unit, stated, "We received information from neighbors that there were often disturbances at the suspect's house, which we suspected were related to drug use. Our team acted on this information and successfully apprehended Madra."

Madra now faces up to 12 years in prison under Indonesia's narcotics law.
