A violent fight between two groups of men in which a car was driven at pedestrians has been caught on video.

Shocking footage shows two groups of men armed with batons during a violent altercation in Manurewa, Auckland, New Zealand, on August 9.

A red vehicle can be seen swerving onto the pavement and hitting one member of the rival group at the entrance of what appears to be a cul-de-sac.

One man retaliates by striking the car with a rod-like object before a second vehicle - a black estate - comes out, hitting the red car before chasing after the rival group.

Shortly after a third vehicle - a white minivan - joins in and swerve onto the footpath hitting another man.

Bystander JHuss Peneuta, 25, caught the mayhem on camera and described how a routine pizza run turned into chaos.

JHuss, from Auckland, said "I went to get pizzas and realized it was a big fight."

"At first it was funny until someone got hit by a car. "

"That's when I knew I had to keep recording."
