Child with foot stuck in escalator rescued in Singapore
A boy with his foot stuck in an escalator was rescued at a mall in Singapore.
Video shows the crying child lying on the steps of the downward-moving escalator after his slipper was reportedly swallowed by the mechanism at the Jurong Point mall on July 14.
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers were at the scene to free the youngster. Shoppers watching the tense events unfold were said to have burst into applause after the boy was rescued with minimal injuries.
An SCDF spokesman said they were asked to respond to the incident at Jurong West Central 2 at around 7:45pm. He added that the boy was taken to the National University Hospital.
Link Asset Management which manages the mall said in a statement: 'We are working closely with the Building and Construction Authority and Otis Elevator Company to conduct investigations on the incident.'
