The aircraft had veered left off the runway by about 20 metres.

Fortunately, all 42 passengers and six crew were all safe and rushed to hospital for inspection.

Based on reports of the incident occurring at 10.40 WIT (eastern Indonesian time), the plane with flight number PK-YSP failed to fly and skidded and went off track at the end of Stevanus Rumbewas Kamanap Airport.

"On September 9 2024 at 10.40 WIT at Kamanap Airport, Yapen Islands Regency, there was a crash of the Trigana PK-YSP IL293 plane at Kamanap Airport, Yapen Islands Regency, which was about to take off from Serui to Jayapura," said Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani at the time. confirmed.

The plane is known to belong to PT Trigana Air Service with type ATR 42-500.

"The official on the plane was Mrs Kerdina Ramses Limbong (wife of the Acting Governor of Papua) and her entourage," added Papua Police Deputy Chief Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani.

Until this news was published, officers were still trying to evacuate the plane.

However, in this unfortunate incident, all 41 passengers and 1 baby, with a total of 42 passengers and 6 crew, were all safe.

Meanwhile, the plane was in a position outside the airport area, when it skidded off the left runway in a southerly direction of around 20 meters.

Several passengers are being rushed to the Serui Suzana Wanggai Hospital.
