A tourist sparked outrage by posing naked on the balcony of his hotel room in Thailand.

The unidentified foreigner attracted attention from passing locals when he was seen without clothes outside a second-floor room of a building in Phuket, Thailand on September 8.

Footage shows the holidaymaker casually scrolling on his phone while leaning forward on the balcony's rails.

He scratched his lower body before focusing on the device while onlookers in the street below were shocked by the scene.

One of the onlookers, Bas Sajo, said: ‘He was completely naked and talking on the phone. He did not care about the people walking by who looked up. He was very rude.'

Tourism officials have launched a crackdown on misbehaving foreigners this year as they battle to clean up the country's seedy reputation.

According to Thai laws, the tourist can face charges for violating Section 388 of the Criminal Code on public obscenity, which carries a fine of up to 5,000 baht (112.50 GBP).

There have been several incidents involving foreigners being found naked in various areas of Phuket.

On March 5, an Italian man was discovered lying naked on the floor in front of a Buddha statue in the sermon hall of a temple.

On June 6, a British man, Philip Raymond North, a 32-year-old from Liverpool, was sunbathing naked and sipping tea outside a convenience store near a school.

On August 21, a foreigner was seen standing naked inside a cannabis shop, proudly displaying his genitals.
