An apartment window collapsed as Super Typhoon Yagi battered the Chinese holiday island of Hainan.

Footage shows the glass panel and metal frames detaching from the frame and plunging to the ground outside the high-rise room on September 6.

The residents were in the kitchen while the destruction happened in their bedroom.

Yagi was Asia's most powerful storm this year, triggering landslides and floods that killed at least 24 people in Vietnam, where it recently made landfall.

Four people also died in the Chinese holiday of Hainan in its path after coming from the Philippines, where it killed at least 20 residents.

The tropical cyclone intensified into a super typhoon last week, causing a trail of destruction the region.
