This is the shocking moment a woman dressed for a party falls into an uncovered sewer in China.

The messy surprise occurred as the woman, ironically carrying an umbrella to avoid getting wet, was rushing to enter a restaurant in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, on August 20.

CCTV footage shows the woman walking over the curb, stumbling, and falling into the sewer through the open manhole.

She briefly managed to hold onto the edge of the manhole before losing her grip and dropping into the hole.

Onlookers rushed to help her, and after a short while, they successfully pulled her out, soaking wet and covered in filthy sewer water and clearly distressed by the incident. She was reportedly unharmed and was taken home to change her clothes.

The reason for the uncovered manhole remains unclear, though there appears to have been construction work in the area.
