This is the heartwarming moment a stranded cat was rescued from a highway and adopted as a pet.

Diana, a passerby, spotted the white, furry creature in the middle of a busy road at Templer Park Rawang, in Selangor, Malaysia, on August 9.

Footage shows the woman stepping out of her vehicle to rescue the weak and helpless feline lying on the ground. She gently placed it inside a cage and brought it home to clean and feed it.

The rescuer decided to adopt the animal, and it is now in safe hands.

The filmer said: 'Almost every day we see cat carcasses being hit in the same area. It is very saddening, and I hope people stop abandoning animals like this.'

Millions of abandoned animals die due to roadkill, prompting animal rights foundations to urge people to take responsibility for helping these poor creatures.
