Iran: Iran's new government to prioritize developing relations with China, Russia: spokesman
Tehran, Iran - September 09, 2024
Storyline:
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said on Monday that developing relations with countries, including China and Russia, is a top priority for Iran's new government's foreign affairs.
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, Kanaani stated that despite Iran's recent suggestion that it would address conflicts with the United States and tensions with European Union countries, the new government will continue to develop relations with countries such as China and Russia. It will carefully consider and execute this priority, and work with the relevant friendly countries to formulate new cooperation documents.
According to the spokesman, regional cooperation is a best way to bridge differences and achieve development. Iran will persist in promoting multilateralism and opposing unilateralism.
Kanaani also announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will attend the BRICS summit scheduled to take place in the Russian city of Kazan in October. He emphasized that joining the BRICS cooperation mechanism is an important opportunity for Iran's development, aligning with the country's national interests. Iran will continue to actively engage with the relevant countries within the BRICS framework to achieve mutual development.
