Elderly women blasting out music and dancing in cemetery sparks outrage in China
A group of elderly women sparked outrage in China as they blasted out music and danced amongst graves in a cemetery in Zhaotong, Yunnan Province.
A passerby captured the video and posted it online where it received widespread attention. Many believe that such actions severely disrespect the public's reverence for the martyrs and should be condemned. Netizens are calling for the women to show respect for the deceased, history, and public sentiment.
Members of staff at the Weixin County Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery management office expressed their frustration over the situation as they have tried to persuade the dancing group to leave the area.
Since the cemetery is an open area, it is difficult to manage. The staff plans to install signs in the cemetery to further remind the public to maintain silence and may call the police if necessary.
