Storyline:
The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 40,988, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Monday.

During the past 24 hours, the Israeli military killed 16 Palestinians and wounded 64 others, bringing the total death toll to 40,988 and the number of injured to 94,825 since the outbreak of the latest round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict last October, the health authorities said..

An Israeli airstrike in the Gaza district of Jabalia on Monday killed six people, including a woman and two children. Several others were reported injured in the attack.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education said on Monday that by the end of August, over 11,500 school-aged children had been killed in the conflict, with tens of thousands more injured, disabled, or suffering from psychological trauma as a result of the ongoing violence.

According to the UN, 85% of Gaza's schools have been damaged or destroyed.

Since the outbreak of the conflict on October last year, more than 750 education-related personnel have been killed, and thousands more have been injured.
