Dozens of locals stole bootleg liquor before the bulldozer could destroy them at a police event.

The men went to a junkyard where 24,000 bottles of pirated alcoholic beverages were scheduled to be smashed by heavy equipment in Andhra Pradesh, India on September 9.

Footage shows the looters rushing to grab as many bottles as they could as cops frantically tried to stop them.

Some of them even argued with the officers and refused to return the bottles, ignoring authorities.

Guntur Superintendent of Police Sathish Kumar said: ‘We were aiming to dispose of the liquor seized during recent raids.'

Some of the bottles were stolen but officers said most of the contraband was destroyed.
