A rapidly spreading brush fire, named the Airport fire, erupted in Orange County, Southern California, on Monday afternoon, scorching nearly 2,000 acres within hours. The blaze started near a model airplane airport, 15 miles east of Irvine, and forced evacuations in Trabuco Canyon and surrounding areas. Firefighters are battling tough conditions, with temperatures soaring to 98°F and winds reaching 15 mph. Meteorologists expect a slight cooldown by Tuesday, with a more significant drop in temperatures later in the week, offering some relief for firefighting efforts.
