This is the heartwarming moment a resident braved floods to rescue stranded kittens from the water.

The heroic animal lover retrieved the two Siamese cats during heavy rainfall in Chiang Rai, Thailand, on September 10.

Footage shows the rescuer wading through the muddy waters while carrying a Styrofoam box containing the felines. He successfully moved them to the evacuation centre away from the flooded area, where landslides had crashed onto roads on the same day.

Thailand has been experiencing severe rainfall, causing flash floods, due to the current monsoon season. Authorities have advised residents to stay alert and vigilant during the storm and to evacuate immediately if necessary.

Thousands of animals each year were reported to have been left behind by their owners during the flooding, leading to their struggle and, in some cases, resulting in drowning and death.
