USA: San Gabriel Mountains National Guard at Mt Baldy and Bear Escaping the Bridge Fire

09/10/2024 12:30 am (GMT-0700) | SAN GABRIEL NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – The National Guard has arrived to assist CHP and law enforcement in the Mount Baldy area at Mount Baldy and Shinn roads.
The Bridge Fire has grown to almost 3,000 acres.
A bear was seen trying to leave the hillside due to the fire and into the campground area along Highway 39 in the San Gabriel National Forest.
An evacuation order was in effect for the East Fork communities of Camp Williams Resort (cafe, mobile home park, campground) and the adjacent river community per Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The area of Baldy Village from the dam to Mt. Baldy Resort (Zone BLD01)road closures:
San Gabriel Canyon and the East Fork of the San Gabriel River remain closed to all forest visitors.Highway 39
