German companies seek business opportunities at int'l investment fair in China

This year’s China International Fair for Investment and Trade has attracted companies and institutions from over 100 countries and regions.

"Dozens of German companies have come to Xiamen to participate in the annual event. Some have expressed strong confidence in the prospects of the Chinese market."

Gunter Weippert is on his first trip to China. The high-precision plastic screw manufacturer was quickly surrounded by Chinese business people at the exhibition.

Gunter Weippert, Managing Director and CEO, Weippert Kunststofftechnik:

"It was quite a surprise for me to see such an exhibition. I’m very optimistic about the Chinese market. I visited several cities this time and saw the robust Chinese economy. It’s completely different from what I heard back in Europe."

Some international firms have already established a presence in the country. This German industrial software company is hoping to expand its digital business in Chinese factories.

Heiko Martin, Managing Partner, Transfact:

"There’s a lot of market potential for us in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces where we are already located. So I’m looking forward to find potential partners, maybe to grow faster in the Chinese or other nation’s market."

Some participants are eyeing cooperation with China in the education sector. This company offers vocational training for Chinese students, and eventually a job opportunity in Germany in industries ranging from automobiles to nursing.

Rudiger Schmidt, CEO, Oskar Kammer Schule:

"We have already companies in Germany who will give young students the chance to do this. So we are looking for schools who would like to cooperate. Two days ago, we have already made a pre-contract with a vocational school."

This year’s China International Fair for Investment and Trade will last until Wednesday. The annual trade fair was first launched in 1997. It’s since become an important platform to boost investment, and offer new opportunities to participants from around the world.
