STORYLINE:

Erenhot Port, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has witnessed increasing trade and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. 

This year, by Sept. 5, Erenhot highway and railway ports recorded over 1.75 million inbound and outbound trips, up 95 percent year-on-year. 

At the No. 1 High School of Erenhot, many Mongolian high school students take lessons to improve their Chinese language skills.

"I've been studying at No. 1 High School of Erenhot for over a year now. I really enjoy learning about Chinese culture, so I decided to come to China to study Chinese."

"Since the establishment of our school in 2006, we have been enrolling students from Mongolia. To date, we have educated over 2,000 Mongolian students. Some of them are currently studying at universities in China while some others have completed their graduate studies and are now working in Mongolia in fields related to the Chinese language."

Seeking better or more affordable medical care, some Mongolians travel a long way to see a doctor in Erenhot.

"Erenhot is a border city close to Mongolia. Language is no barrier and it's easy for us to communicate. We have comprehensive treatment methods, which is why many Mongolian patients prefer to come here."

In 2020, Erenhot was designated by the Chinese government as one of the first group of 13 pilot barter trade areas for the processing of imported goods in the country.

"Our company has registered an import and export trading company in Erenhot. Life in Erenhot is less stressful. The environment is clean, and fruits and vegetables are relatively cheap here. Overall, it's quite good."

Due to its unique regional advantages and efficient customs clearance, Erenhot Port handles most of Mongolia's fruit and vegetable imports.

"Our company mainly exports fruits and vegetables to Mongolia and Russia. As of September this year, our company has already exported over 97,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables. This year, this volume is expected to surpass 120,000 tonnes. The volume of vegetables exported to Mongolia through Erenhot is steadily increasing every year."
