Hero youngster climbs wall to save rabbits from burning house
A hero youngster climbed a wall to save rabbits trapped in a cage beside a burning home.
Jason Ong, 15, was called to the scene by his cousin who passed by the property being razed by flames in Selangor, Malaysia on September 6.
Dramatic footage shows Jason scaling the wall across a canal to evacuate the pet rodents before the fire could spread into the hanging metal shelter.
The Good Samaritan pulled the cage's floor to make a hole and grabbed a white rabbit, but the second one cowered in the corner making it hard for him to reach the animal through the opening.
Despite the flames starting to eat through the cage, Jason hurried to lure the second rabbit until he finally pulled it out safely.
Jason's cousin Balanagamma Punaimuthi, who recorded the video, said: ‘I was on my way to work when I saw the place on fire. There were two rabbits trapped in the cage but no one could help.'
Jason saved the two rabbits and sustained minor burns on his hands from holding the hot cage.
His cousin added: ‘He was very happy that the rabbits were saved. Even though he risked his life, he said he would do it again to save the animals.'
The rabbits, along with Jason, were treated and given medicine for their burn injuries.
