SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): EDUARDO REGALADO, Senior researcher at International Policy Research Center of Cuba
"China's modernization process has its own unique characteristics. It is an inclusive process, meaning that it involves everyone in society equally. It is a people-centered process and one that moves in all directions.
It doesn't only encompass the economic aspect but also includes the social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. This development is focused on people, which is why it's said that all of China's policies are centered on improving the living conditions of its population.
China views human rights as a holistic issue, that is, as an integral matter.
Therefore, (China's) development has directly contributed to the improvement of human rights for the population, as the focus has been on people and enhancing their living conditions. "
Regalado said China is extending its achievements to all humanity, enhancing global human rights by improving living conditions, creating jobs, and alleviating poverty.
He added that China will serve as a model for developing human rights policies.
SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): EDUARDO REGALADO, Senior researcher at International Policy Research Center of Cuba
"China practices a policy of extending its achievements to all humanity.
For example, China has proposed several initiatives, such as the Global Development Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, which can improve human rights conditions in Latin American countries.
Take the Belt and Road Initiative, for instance. It has created better living conditions for the people involved. It has created jobs, helped lift people out of poverty, and improved the living conditions of these populations.
In other words, there are two basic conditions: learning from what China has done and benefiting from China's foreign policy concerning human rights.
The international community should analyze, study, and impartially consider the achievements that China has made in human rights. Viewed in this way, I am confident that China will serve as a reference, a model, for the development of human rights policies."
