Locals tied large plastic bottles to pigs to help them float so they could navigate the flooded landscape in northern Vietnam following Typhoon Yagi.

Footage shows the pigs, each weighing around 200kg, being guided across a stretch of floodwater in Bac Ninh.

A Vietnamese pig farm was flooded after Typhoon Yagi hit Vietnam. To rescue the pigs and bring them to higher ground, people had to tie large plastic bottles to the pigs so they could float on the water and pull them across the river to higher ground.

Because the floodwaters rose so quickly, people were not proactive in preparing large boats. Therefore, the only way left was to tie large plastic bottles to the pigs' bodies to pull them to shore. (Each pig weighs about 200kg).

This pitiful moment was filmed in Bac Ninh, Vietnam on September 11.

Typhoon Yagi was a super typhoon that made landfall in Vietnam on September 7. It affected most of the northern provinces in Vietnam and caused landslides, flash floods in mountainous areas, and widespread flooding. The storm caused heavy economic damage to the people.
