Woman's dental implants snap in half while eating a burger
A woman broke her dental implants in half - while eating a veggie burger.
Faith Hill, 25, has had to get implants after losing all her teeth during a six-year battle to beat drug addiction.
Faith has had no issues with her teeth since she had them fitted in June 2023.
But last month, the implants - which are temporary - snapped in half while eating a burger.
Faith, a content creator from St Louis, Missouri, USA: "The sound of it breaking was more alarming than the break itself."
"I was shocked and was too stunned to speak."
"You shouldn't eat anything you can't cut with a plastic fork and I unfortunately was not following that to a T."
Faith became hooked on meth when she was just 14 and has been sober since she quit her addiction in July 2020.
But the addiction robbed Faith of her smile, as the habit left her with just 14 rotting teeth left in her mouth.
Faith said: "My teeth were so badly decayed and broken that dentures were my only option."
"The teeth couldn't be saved."
"I got my teeth removed and went months without having any teeth. "
"It definitely took a mental toll on me for a while."
After using dentures for months, Faith was able to get implants in June last year.
She said: "The cost was thankfully covered and I did not need to pay out of pocket for them. "
"I would say life with implants is a lot easier than when I had regular dentures."
"I brush my teeth the same - in the morning and at night. "
"I also use a water pick to get any food that may be stuck underneath."
Faith has now fixed her dental implants and will be fitted with a final set of teeth in Texas next week.
She said: "The bottom plate was fixed a week after it breaking and I did not have to pay anything for it to be fixed."
"I am flying out to Texas to finalize my design to send off for my final set of teeth."
"The temporary teeth are known to be softer and easier to break, yet the permanent teeth, which are made of Zirconia, should not break."
"I am very excited to bring this very long journey to a close."
