Truck wobbles from side-to-side as it loses control on slippery downhill road
This is the terrifying moment a truck wobbled from side to side as it lost control on a slippery downhill road.
The ten-wheeler cargo truck, carrying corn, overturned and crashed into the road barrier, causing a traffic jam on Highway 11 in Lampang, Thailand, on September 11.
CCTV footage shows the vehicle manoeuvring on a curved lane when it suddenly teetered and nearly collided with a passing lorry.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Kiatiporn Sawasdithep of the Highway Police rescued the 57-year-old driver, Wanchai, who suffered minor injuries in the incident. Other responders cleared the road by removing corncobs that had spilt onto the surface.
Officers said the road was slippery due to continuous rain caused by Typhoon Yagi, which has brought heavy rain to the region.
The incident led to a traffic jam from 4pm, lasting more than three hours, with cars backed up for 4.3 miles (7 kilometres).
Officers requested a tow truck to remove the overturned vehicle, and traffic was successfully reopened by 7 pm.
Lieutenant Colonel Kiatiporn added: 'We urge commuters to exercise caution when driving during the rainy season, especially on uphill and downhill curves in mountainous areas.'
Several countries in southeast Asia and parts of China were affected by Typhoon Yagi which caused flash floods, severe rainfalls, landslides, and power outages leaving more than 150 dead individuals in Vietnam.
