Gymgoer nearly crushed beneath 100-kilo barbell during bench press
This is the scary moment a gymgoer was nearly crushed and suffocated beneath the weight of a 100kg barbell while doing a bench press in China.
CCTV footage shows Ma struggling with the extremely heavy barbell at a gym in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, on Monday, September 2.
Unable to hold the barbell for a few seconds, Ma lets it fall onto his chest, gradually suffocating under its weight.
He tried to alert other gym members, but they couldn't hear him due to their earphones.
In a desperate move, Ma threw his left shoe against the wall, catching the attention of a man who had his back turned.
The man quickly rushed to Ma's aid and lifted the barbell off his chest, allowing him to breathe again.
Ma was reported to have escaped the incident without any injuries.
