A crook who posed as a shop window dummy to plunder a mall at night has been jailed for 16 months in Poland.

Wojciech G, 22, stood motionless for hours while pretending to be a fashion mannequin before he burgled shops and raided the mall's food court for cash and snacks.

Judges heard that he pocketed jewellery, cash, and clothes as he wandered from shop to shop at the Westfield Arkadia Mall after customers and staff had gone home.

The thief admitted to burglary and theft charges during a sentencing hearing at Warsaw District Court, local media reported on September 11.

Security CCTV footage from the mall shows Wojciech hopping over a sandwich shop counter to steal food and drink before ducking down as a guard walked past.

Later footage shows him hiding under a tarpaulin over a bar, where he had stolen booze and waiters' tips before being caught by mall security officers.

One bizarre piece of evidence shows Wojciech posing in a shop window display for Wrangler's Barbie Collection jeans from the hit movie.

Judges were told that Wojciech was arrested in October 2023, and after being released on bail, he went right back to the mall to pose as a dummy again.

Local media said the court has ruled that the sentence is final and cannot be appealed.
