Indian shopkeeper arrested after frog legs were found in a samosa
An Indian shopkeeper was taken into custody after frog legs were found in a samosa.
Footage shows the furious customer, Aman Kumar, confronting the store owner about the stomach-churning addition to the dish he sold in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on September 11.
Aman claimed that he had purchased four samosas from a well-known sweet store. When he took them home to eat, he discovered what appeared to be a frog leg inside one of the samosas as soon as he broke it open.
He also reported the incident to police. When officers arrived and witnessed the escalating situation, they arrested the shop owner, Ramkesh, and took him to the station for questioning.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department gathered samples of the samosas from the shop.
Assistant Commissioner of Food Arvind Yadav stated that further action would be taken based on the test results of the collected samples.
India is notorious for its poor food safety practices, as many street stalls and cheap restaurants prioritise efficiency and profit over hygiene.
The country's food safety regulating body, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is relatively young and was established in 2006.
