A stranded pet dog found clinging to a fence at waist-deep flood was rescued in Thailand.

Footage shows the pooch being saved by an emergency responder and carried to safety in Chiang Rai province on September 12.

The canine was exhausted and starving after being trapped in the waterlogged street but it was uninjured. Rescue teams took it to a shelter to receive fresh food and water.

Typhoon Yagi devastated Thailand, where at least six people were killed. The death toll in neighbouring Vietnam has reached 250. The Philippines, China and Laos have also been badly hit.

The storm, with sustained winds of 234 km/h (145 mph), is recorded as the world's second-most powerful tropical cyclone this year, after Category 5 Atlantic Hurricane Beryl.
