Friday the Thirteenth, One Ton of drugs seized on a fishing boat off Newquay Harbour Cornwall UK.
Two unrelated seizures of Cocaine from fishing vessels off the Cornish coast on the same day. Officers from the National Crime Agency, supported by Border Force colleagues, discovered around 300kg of class A drugs on a small boat off the coast of Sennen - around the same time the two agencies found a tonne of cocaine on another boat 40 miles up the Cornish coast.
Earlier today the National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed that Border Force officers stopped a fishing boat named Lily Lola on Friday afternoon (September 13) off the coast of Newquay. A search of the vessel resulted in them seizing around a tonne of class A cocaine. Four men on board the Lily Lola were arrested on suspicion of importing class A drugs.
At around the same time, members of the public were surprised to see what they believed was a policing operation off the coast of Sennen.
Some took to the Sennen Community Page on Facebook to highlight the appearance of a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) which had appeared on Gwynver Beach on the afternoon of Friday September 13. In the nearby car park they spotted officers from Devon and Cornwall Police. Others explained that they had seen the RIB intercepted at sea and escorted to the beach on that afternoon at around 3pm.Four people have been arrested and approximately one metric The National Crime Agency says officers found the contraband on board and have taken four people into custody. They will be questioned by NCA investigators on suspicion of importing class A drugs. Derek Evans the NCA Branch commander states that this is a major amount of Cocaine and will seriously impact the Organised crime group they believe to be behind the attempt.
