A motorist's arms caught fire from his electric tricycle that erupted in flames before causing an explosion.

The owner was checking the vehicle when it suddenly burst into a blaze in Jiangsu, China, on August 31.

CCTV footage shows the flames spreading to the resident at a carpark. An onlooker fled from panic.

In under a minute, the fire reached the parked cars nearby and exploded.

The motorist survived with minor burn injuries, and the shopping mall staff arrived with an extinguisher to help.

Electric tricycles from China have spread to nearby regions, particularly Southeast Asia, South Asia, and parts of Africa, due to their affordability, ease of use, and ability to navigate congested urban areas.
