Fierce winds send waves crashing over seawall as Shanghai hit by strongest typhoon in 75 years

On the morning of September 16 at 7:30 am, Typhoon Bebinca made landfall as a strong typhoon along the coastal area of Lingang New City in Pudong, Shanghai. At landfall, the maximum wind force near the centre reached level 14, with wind speeds as high as 42 metres per second, making it the strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai in 75 years.

As the typhoon made landfall, the Bund was engulfed by fierce winds and torrential rain, while the waters of the Huangpu River became turbulent.
