A pet goat with a deformed face described as alien-like by locals was born in a small village in India.

The unusually-looking calf had a partially divided eyeball in a single socket, and its tongue dangled from its mouth with a severe overbite in Madhya Pradesh.

Footage shows the farm animal staying close to its mum beside its sibling. It had two small holes above the upper lip for a nose.

The calf's bizarre appearance attracted neighbours and curious residents who came to the farmer's hut to see the alien-looking goat.

The owner said: ‘The news about my goat spread, and soon they called it an alien.

‘I have strangers coming here gathering in long queues outside my house to see my goat.'

Veterinarians have not checked the goat but it can be a case of congenital disorder Cyclopia.

The condition causes an animal to be born with a single or partially divided eye in the centre of the face. It results from the embryonic forebrain's failure to divide into two hemispheres properly. This leads to the development of a single eye socket, often accompanied by severe brain and facial malformations.
