Lightning strikes powerlines igniting car parked below
Lightning struck powerlines, causing a parked car to catch fire in Thailand.
Footage shows the vehicle in flames in Bangkok on September 13. A woman's cries can be heard in the clip amid the chaos.
Local media reported that the driver had parked her car, which she had purchased only a month ago, next to her residence.
On that day, heavy rain and lightning struck the powerlines above the vehicle, triggering the fire. Despite the intense rainfall, the flames continued to burn.
The driver contacted the rescue team, who struggled to extinguish the fire due to the challenging weather conditions.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
