A suspension bridge snapped, causing motorists to plunge into a river in Indonesia.

The 17-year-old bridge collapsed while passersby were crossing it late in the evening in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, on September 12.

Two of the victims who sustained wounds were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment.

One of the victims, Afran, 20, said: 'We were about to head home after playing badminton when suddenly the bridge's sling rope broke and the six of us fell into the river.'

The individuals were able to swim to the riverbank, and the motorbikes that fell into the river were towed out of the water.

Toradda Village Head, Halim Muhammad Nasir, said: 'The maintenance for the bridge uses Toradda Village funds, but due to limited funds, it is no longer being repaired.'
