This is the moment a biker crashes into a huge excavator at speed and is sent flying.

The incident, which took place in Skopin, Ryazan Oblast, Russia, on Friday, 13th September, shows the excavator slowly moving along a street.

Cars can be seen passing it by when, all of a sudden, the motorcycle appears out of nowhere and rather than slowing down, it speeds up looking to take advantage of the opportunity to overtake before the next car passes by in the opposite lane.

But the biker appears to have misjudged, cannot pull out, and smashes straight into the back of the excavator, sending its rider flying through the air and out of shot.

Locals emerge from their homes after the deafening smash, with one man running to help. The workman in the excavator, meanwhile, lowers the machine's bucket onto the ground to stop cars from overtaking and hitting the injured biker.

Local media reports said there was currently no information regarding the biker's condition.
