A large tree toppled onto a passing pickup truck during a storm in Bangkok, Thailand.

CCTV footage shows strong winds uprooting the tree planted on a sidewalk, sending it crashing onto a truck along Banthat Thong Road in the Soi Chulalongkorn 34 area at around 6:09pm local time on September 12.

The driver was seen trying to swerve away, but the tree trunk slammed onto his bonnet and snapped in half.

No injuries were reported, but the tree caused a one-hour traffic disruption. Firefighters cleared the obstruction at 7:05pm.

Heavy rains were battering Thailand as remnants of typhoon Yagi amplified the monsoon.

The Bangkok Flood Control Center said Bangkok saw two inches of rainfall in three hours on September 12.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
