SOUNDBITE 1 (English): REEMA SHAUKAT, Research Analyst and Communication Strategist, Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad
"I would say that if you talk about China, we have to see the journey of China, we have to look at China's governance, China's policies which it has catered for its people. And that is very much the reason that today China is the second-largest economy of the world.
In China, we see that socioeconomic uplift is always a prime agenda or a prime goal of China. And I think that is very much a reason of the success of Chinese government. If general public is happy with the government, its impact comes actually on the system of the government also, and they perform well."
The expert also compared Chinese democracy with western democracy, stressing Chinese democracy is inclusive.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): REEMA SHAUKAT, Research Analyst and Communication Strategist, Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad
"Western democracies often chant slogans of human rights and other values in their election campaigns. But in China, you see that they take this inclusive approach when it comes to their governance system. And it's not that they just introduce this governance system, but they make sure that when it comes into power, it is properly implemented."
