This is the shocking moment a terrified woman jumps out of a moving taxi after realising the driver has fainted, and they were headed for a potential crash.

Dashcam footage from another vehicle captured the 47-year-old passenger's terrifying leap on a highway in Artyom, in Russia's Primorsky Krai, on Sunday evening, 15th September.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, told police she was riding in a taxi and at one point, the driver lost consciousness.

The car continued travelling at speed and began veering dangerously to the left, scraping against the guardrail.

Unable to awaken the driver and fearing for her life, the woman then made the desperate decision to jump out of the moving car.

The video shows her opening the right-side passenger door and rolling out onto the tarmac.

She lands in the middle of the highway and rolls over a few times, then crawls to the roadside.

Luckily, the motorist whose camera captured the incredible incident is the only one on the road during that time and saw the woman jumping out right in front of them.

They stopped by the side of the road next to the woman, who managed to get herself to safety before other vehicles passed by.

Police officials said the woman suffered a dislocated shoulder as a result of the accident but was otherwise fine.

There have been no updates on the taxi driver's condition.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
