STORYLINE:

The first batch of 11.7 tons of imported Peruvian blueberries arrived at north China's Tianjin Port on Wednesday, marking the first time in history that South American blueberries have landed at a northern port in China.

The arrival of the Hass brand blueberries will further optimize the logistics layout of imported fruits in northern China, effectively enhance the status of Tianjin Port as a high-end fruit and vegetable import and export hub in the north, and promote the diversified development of the fruit market in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Peru is a major exporter of high-quality fresh blueberries in the world.

The arrival of these blueberries is due to the opening of the "Fruit Express" created by Tianjin Port Group - a direct route from Tianjin Port to South America.

Peruvian blueberries have become another high-end South American fruit introduced through this route, following Chilean cherries. A new fruit trade channel has been established from South America to northern China, especially with Tianjin Port as the hub port.

The direct route was officially opened in Dec. 2023, greatly reducing the travel time between the two places.

More blueberries are expected to arrive at the northern fruit market through Tianjin Port, effectively ensuring the supply of high-quality fruits in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and northern regions, and helping to enhance the competitiveness and market vitality of the northern fruit industry.
