STORYLINE:
Turkish police detained 293 suspects for drug manufacturing and trafficking in operations across Türkiye, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on social media X that the operations, dubbed "Narkocelik-39," were conducted in 44 provinces without specifying the time.
The security forces seized 470 kilograms of narcotics and more than 4.94 million narcotic pills, said the minister.
Türkiye, used by illegal drug dealers as a transit hub, has toughened its crackdown on drug smuggling since last year.
