This is the shocking moment an electric scooter travelling at full speed hits an unsuspecting pedestrian.

The incident occurred on the pavement in Kurgan, Russia, on Thursday, September 12.

Surveillance camera footage shows people walking downstairs and onto the sidewalk. Suddenly, a man is struck by the scooter.

The man's companion can be seen raising his arms in shock and surprise as the scooter completely knocks him off his feet.

The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Kurgan Region said: 'On September 12, at 09:36 on Gogol Street in the regional centre, a pedestrian was injured.

'A young man born in 1998, driving a personal mobility device TEVERUN FIGHTER electric scooter with a power of 240 watts, was moving along the sidewalk along Gogol Street, from Kravchenko Street, towards B. Petrov Street.

'Near house No. 98, the scooter driver ran over a pedestrian born in 1977, who was moving along the sidewalk.

'As a result of the accident, the pedestrian received bodily injuries.

'The electric scooter driver was brought to administrative responsibility under Art. 12.30 Part 1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.'
