09/17/2024 10:39 pm (GMT-0700) | MONTEBELLO, Calif. – CHP from the East Los Angeles Station and Montebello FD responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian eastbound on the 60 Freeway at Garfield Avenue in the city of Montebello. Once CHP officers arrived at the scene, they immediately rendered CPR to the victim. Firefighters and paramedics arrived and took over CPR, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene by firefighters and paramedics. It is unknown at this time how many vehicles struck the pedestrian on the freeway. How the pedestrian got on the freeway or was involved in a crash before being struck is also unknown. CHP only had the slow lane open for traffic. A Sig Alert was issued for the eastbound 60 Freeway for an unknown duration.
